risd:store 3D is actively seeking a full-time Materials Coordinator to join its dynamic retail team. The mission of the risd:store and risd:store 3D is to enable creativity by supporting the creative pursuits of our students and customers through a unique, inspiring and informative shopping experience. The Materials Coordinator will perform a wide-variety of functions that primarily include receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, cutting all custom and standard-inventory orders from raw and/or primary material, coordinating the delivery, retrieval, and distribution of goods from RISD Store warehouse, and managing both a live inventory of on-hand material and the data generated from its logistics. Coordinate regularly with Assistant Director and Buyers regarding materials needs relevant to RISD's academic calendar, and manage their assembly and distribution. Assist with training new staff as it relates to receiving practices.
With knowledge of OSHA guidelines related to the storage and handling of toxic materials, receive shipments for RISD Retail at store level as well as RISD Store warehouse. Unload shipments by hand truck or forklift. Follow all policies in place. Inspect, sign for and distribute packages where appropriate. Unpack and verify shipment contents against purchase orders. Accurately receive and record order(s) in the computer system and inform buyers immediately of any discrepancies. File related paperwork. Maintain receiving log and report on trend.
Maintain systems for customized order requests by accurately and efficiently logging transactions to aid in related data analysis. Assemble customized orders and price accordingly, applying technical skill required to take order from conception to completion by operating working power tools such as table saw, chop saw, panel saw, band saw, etc. Maintain inventory systems by accurately and efficiently logging transactions involving pre-cut supplies for retail to ensure stock availability. Report the raw materials needed to complete cutting to the RISD 3D Store Buyer to ensure needed supply volume is met. Track and document pre-cut inventory and custom cutting service trends and adjust cutting accordingly.
Coordinate, and either directly or through delegates, execute deliveries and transfers to and from the RISD Store warehouse to RISD Retail stores, and to RISD retail customers as needed.
Provide daily direction and support to RISD Store Receiver to ensure that full coverage is met in both retail locations and RISD warehouse. Ensure consistency of delivery, receiving, and transfer of merchandise to RISD Retail and warehouse. Trains the Receiver in the operation of warehouse forklift and that all safety precautions are taking place.
Serve as the primary operator of retail vehicle(s), ensuring accurate tracking of usage and maintenance data. Ensure 3D Store and warehouse equipment and RISD Store Van are well maintained and update service documentation. Create facility work orders to ensure timely equipment and van maintenance service is taking place. Retrieve inventory from wholesalers within reasonable proximity to campus and/or operates vehicle as needed for delivery of class related materials to departments and students.
Assist customers with purchases and provide information in a courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable manner. Operate cash register in an accurate manner when needed.
Open and prepare cash drawers at 3D Store as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum two years of prior related experience working in a warehouse setting.
Certified forklift operator required, or the willingness and ability to complete Yale and Clark brand forklift training within one year of hire.
Ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical card
Valid driver's license.
Demonstrated ability to effectively provide guidance, support, and feedback to others.
Basic carpentry skills with demonstrated knowledge of and previous experience using table saws, power tools and various hand tools.
Basic computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other related software.
Ability to operate hand truck and palette jack.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
Previous experience operating Yale Forklifts.
Previous cash register experience.
Demonstrated customer service experience.
Standard hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
