Our Premium Outlet Collection EIA team is searching for an intern who will make a difference and contribute to our ambitious goals.
What this challenge is about
The intern will assist the shopping centre’s operations staff in maximizing efficiencies and completing special projects:
During the first two weeks of work term, the intern will be shadowing the Operations Manager to learn the facility and the importance of the centre’s functions;
Exposure to contract negotiations, capital and expense budgets, variance reports;
Learning the operational and maintenance aspects of the building.
After initial training, assist Operations Department with the following general duties:
Assisting the Operations Manager with the development of preventative maintenance plans;
Improve upon the existing diversion rate by implementing new processes and programs;
Monitor and control various building systems with the goal of identifying efficiencies;
Carry out building inspections and generate requisite work order to correct for any noted deficiencies;
Develop an inventory management system for the shop area and an inventory control process;
Investigate the payback on LED conversion for exterior and back of house lighting; build a business plan for the implementation of a future roll-out of this conversion;
Monitor security systems (alarm systems, emergency lights, sprinklers, extinguishers) on a regular basis and assist the Operations Manager in preparing inspection reports;
Assist the Operations Manager and General Manager with the annual expense budgeting process;
Assist with Specialty Leasing – Mobile Retail Units (MRU) setups and takedowns;
Assist Administration, Marketing and Guest Services with assigned duties as requested;
Other projects and duties as required.
What we’re looking for
Qualified applicants must be enrolled in a Business program or a Real Estate program, an Operations Management specialization is an asset;
Sense of initiative and resourcefulness; ability to multitask and resolve problems independently;
Applicants must have a results-driven attitude with the ability to oversee projects and programs with minimal supervision;
Team player with strong interpersonal skills and a customer service mindset;
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite;
Fluency in English.
