The ideal candidate will be responsible for the accounting, tracking and reporting of all construction related projects. These responsibilities include assisting with the budgeting process, recording contracts, recording and tracking change orders, explaining variances and assisting accounts payable to pay construction draws and individual and recording payments to track against budget and forecast. Interact with lenders regarding construction draws as appropriate. This position works closely with our VP of Construction and Development to ensure the timely and accurate payment of invoices and tracking of job costs.
Assist with the budgeting process, recording contracts, recording and tracking change orders.
Explain variances and assist accounts payable in paying construction draws and invoices and record payments to track against the budget.
Record contracts as they are received into the construction log and communicate significant variances to budget
Record change orders and tracking the change orders noting reasons for the changes
Record payments, track percent complete
Ensure all invoices are processed on a timely basis and that the approvals have been obtained.
Responsible for maintaining cost analysis and providing reports by project to the VP of Construction and Development
Review pay applications for accurate compliance to contracts and coding. Track and process lien releases.
Verify amounts being paid are in accordance with the contract and in line with percentage of completion
Provide management with timely communication when an initial bid significantly exceeds the budget or if an invoice for a change order exceeds the approved change order.
Track contracts, approved amounts and payments by vendor
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3 + years of experience
Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word
Experience in MRI or Yardi a plus
Demonstrated proficiency in basic accounting principles
High level of attention to detail and excellent organization skills
Strong interpersonal skills Knowledge of basic construction practices and procedures
Possess excellent communication skills, both orally and written
Strong attention to detail with excellent time management and organizational skills
