INTERNSHIP PROGRAM STRUCTURE:
Our internship program is designed to provide real-world experience that is directly related to your academic discipline and career goals and provide you a better understanding of career options for your degree. Components of the program include:
Hands-on experience working as a member of a specific department and team
Assigned projects to accelerate learning of key functions/process
Cross-functional departmental exposures within the corporate office including access to Real Estate Committee
Tours and exposure to other business areas (e.g., stores, distribution center) to ensure full understanding of the company structure and strategy
External partnerships to provide additional exposure to the landlord / development side of the business
End of program presentation of project findings, and recommended course of action to executives
RESPONSIBILITIES OF INTERNSHIP:
Work on drafting letters of intent and participate in lease negotiations for both new locations and renewals of existing stores under the direction of the VPs of Real Estate
Provide support with evaluating proposed new sites and analyzing the existing portfolio of over 1,250 stores to optimize market share and profitability
Partner with master data team to enhance ESRI / ArcGIS to ensure capture of store attributes, trade area definitions, consumer profiles and competitor stores
Partner with program management and finance to update and distribute weekly and monthly reports, including updated financial and budgeting documents
Collaborate with Real Estate, Legal, Repairs & Maintenance, and Store Operations to provide an enterprise wide approach to lease related issues
Prepare written notices/correspondence to landlords regarding lease documentation compliance
Conduct business plan strategy for specific stores
Participate in other activities and projects as designated by VP – RE Strategy
REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:
Currently pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics or Business Administration and entering junior or senior year of school. Would not exclude recent graduates from 2020
Strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.5
Previous work experience and involvement with on-campus organizations or activities
Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and interact with management level personnel
Ability to work in our Bolingbrook office during core business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Ability to commit during the months of June – August 2020
