The Director of Property Accounting will oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions for a large portfolio of properties as well as supervise and mentor a staff of 20-25 people with varying levels of skill and experience within the Property Accounting department.

Minimum Requirements (Education, Licenses, Experience)

• Bachelor's degree (B.B.A.) in Accounting or Finance
• Advanced skill level in Yardi Voyager
• 10+ years related commercial real estate professional experience
• 7+ years of experience in commercial real estate accounting (retail real estate accounting experience preferred)
• 5+ years in a supervisor role managing a team of 5 or more people

Critical Duties

• Review, coordinate, and complete the preparation of accurate books and records for third party managed properties within their portfolio.
• Supervise, mentor, and train a team of 20-25 individuals including Property Accountants, Accounting Assistants, Accounting Manager, and Senior Property Accountants.
• Perform review functions during end of month close.
• Assist financial operations personnel and other company departments with questions and information requests as needed.
• Understand and ensure compliance with company and departmental policies and procedures. Evaluate and make appropriate improvements as needed.
• Work directly with the Accounting Manager and the Senior Property Accountants to allocate and prioritize team job functions and responsibilities.
• Manage special projects and initiatives as assigned.
• Perform accounting research on technical matters.
• Coordinate and complete audit requests as needed.
