POSITION: Senior Associate, Development Services
Track development applications and planning related activities in various municipalities.
Research Official Plan and Zoning permissions for various properties and identify as of right opportunities.
Prepare packages for development sites including community facility and amenity maps, transit maps, height and density maps, ownership information and demographics.
Conduct zoning checks for new uses (tenants) at various centres to support our Leasing Team.
Assist with the coordination of all aspects of development applications including Official Plan Amendments, Zoning Bylaw Amendments, Plan of Subdivision, Site Plan Applications, Committee of Adjustment, Building Permit etc.
Prepare development schedules and budgets.
Prepare project updates for investors and internal departments.
Assist in the due diligence process of prospective acquisitions/sales.
Prepare and provide demographic, and competition information.
Liaise with tenants, politicians, municipal staff and other approval agencies.
Maintain information flow within the team including regular reporting.
Anticipate potential issues and take a proactive approach in all facets of the role.
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning or Urban Design
Master’s Degree in Urban Planning/Development is an asset
OPPI membership is preferred
4 + years’ experience in a similar role
Has working knowledge of Provincial Acts and other planning legislation, guidelines and policies affecting land use planning, such as regional official plans and local official plans, and zoning bylaws
Possesses strong research, administrative and organizational skills
Strong reading comprehension skills, verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized individual with attention to detail including ability to proofread and edit materials
Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience using computer graphics programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator is an asset
