We are looking for an experienced accounting and finance professional to join our growing team as the AVP Accounting to oversee (1) corporate, property, investment and partnership accounting and financial reporting, (2) commercial lease administration and (3) tax and insurance regulatory filings and payments. The AVP Accounting will report directly to the SVP, Accounting & Finance and supervise 3 direct reports. Specifically, this role would be responsible for:
Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including the full accounting lifecycle for our cash and accrual general ledger - from property and investment level transactions to monthly financial reporting.
Lead the development of the accounting team and proactively recommend hiring and outsourcing solutions to manage workloads and team engagement.
Oversee the accounting close process, including timelines, checklists, standard and ad hoc journal entry review and distribution of internal and external financial reports. Provide regular status updates on progress.
Manage delivery and analysis of financial reports, including reports for lenders, partners and investors.
Manage external auditor and tax accounting firm deliverables (financial statement audits, tax filings, etc.) and ensure requests are met timely.
Partner with FP&A on forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis.
Ensure capitalization policy is correctly applied to all applicable fixed assets, acquisitions and expenses.
Review and analyze regulatory filings and reports for real estate taxes and insurance, including ensuring that filings and payments are timely and accurate.
Review the CAM and lease administration results and manage team to ensure tenant billing matters are addressed timely.
Ensure strong operational and accounting processes are established for efficiency, internal controls and scalability for future growth.
Assume other duties and responsibilities as the SVP of Accounting & Finance deems appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong understanding of technical real estate and investment accounting
Strong analytical skills, including data analysis and visualization for executive presentation
Excellent time management and written and oral communication skills
Hands on, a can-do attitude, and willing to serve in multiple roles
Adept at managing projects, prioritizing and knowing when (and how) to escalate issues
Professional presence, outstanding work ethic and a strong team player
Must have acute attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Must be a strategic thinker and assertive in a fast paced, multi-entity environment
Must operate independently and feel comfortable in a decision-making role
Must effectively interact with senior management at all levels and across all lines of business
Must multitask and follow through while ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
CPA with at least two years of public accounting experience
Progressive accounting and finance experience to include, but not be limited to month end close, annual audits, financial reporting, staff development and management
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including managing a team
Real estate or financial services industry knowledge and experience
Demonstrated success in developing and leading high-performance teams
Must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills
Ability to develop and maintain reports using SQL, Advanced Excel, Power BI, etc.
Real estate tax preparation or review preferred
Nexus or PayScan (accounts payable software) experience preferred

The market-based pay range for this role is $190,000-$200,000 annually (plus additional bonus incentives). The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
