Our Client, a commercial real estate owner, is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Collections and Accounting Manager to join their collegial team. This role combines accounting and administrative duties, supporting property management operations, as well as working to ensure the overall efficient operation of the office. The ideal candidate will have three (3) or more years of experience in commercial real estate accounting and work with real estate ledgers, including preparing additional rent reconciliations, tenant relations, and collections.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting & Financial Duties:
Manage tenant collections and follow up on delinquent accounts.
Communicate with tenants regarding their accounts and answer questions as needed.
Post and reconcile cash receipts and prepare bank deposits.
Process accounts payable, including coding, data entry, and vendor payments.
Perform Common Area Maintenance (CAM) and other lease charge reconciliations for multiple commercial properties.
Assist with monthly and year-end ledger closings, journal entries, and financial reporting.
Assist in maintaining accurate accounting records and assist with annual audits.
Support property managers with including construction project accounting, tenant billing and expense allocations.
Administrative & Office Support:
Order and maintain office supplies and coordinate maintenance of office equipment (printers, copiers, etc.).
Assist with health insurance administration and employee benefit coordination.
Answer phones, handle correspondence, and provide general administrative support.
Communicate professionally with tenants, vendors, and staff to resolve questions or issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ years of accounting experience, specifically working with commercial real estate and/or property management.
A college degree is preferred but not required.
Experience with CAM reconciliations and real estate accounting required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Experience with Yardi property management software (or similar software) is highly preferred.
Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a small office environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
