Our Client is seeking an experienced in-house legal counsel to provide comprehensive legal support for their retail commercial real estate operations. This role involves drafting and negotiating leases, managing compliance, handling disputes, and partnering with internal teams to align legal strategies with business objectives. The position is 100% in-office (not remote) and offers opportunities for growth within a dynamic, family-oriented environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Including but not limited to:
Draft, review, and negotiate retail leases, amendments, renewals, assignments, subleases, estoppels, and SNDAs.
Partner with the leasing team to structure deals, identify risks, review tenant applications, and ensure alignment with ownership's business goals.
Manage due diligence for new tenants, including insurance compliance, tenant buildouts, and financial reviews.
Organize and manage all general liability claims for the shopping centers.
Advise property management on day-to-day operational issues, including maintenance obligations, tenant defaults, and compliance disputes.
Oversee and coordinate responses to tenant disputes, including operational violations and lease enforcement matters.
Support acquisitions and dispositions, including reviewing title documents and closing deliverables.
Manage outside counsel on litigation, evictions, collections, bankruptcies, and other matters.
Assist with general compliance matters related to the company.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Member of the Florida Bar in good standing for a minimum of 3 years.
Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Experience with retail commercial real estate leases.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
